Two new timber framed homes on a brownfield site in the Green Belt that draw upon local Essex vernacular and are clad in traditional weatherboarding and rough red clay roof tiles. A single catslide dormer on each property provides a west facing view over treetops. Eaves and gable details are minimised to express the roof plane.
The L-shaped houses are offset from one another, allowing views through the site from the street, thus reducing visual impact.
The remainder of the site was landscaped with native planting and trees in order to enhance the overall ecological value of the site and have a positive impact on the Green Belt.
