Brunton Wharf is a London Borough of Tower Hamlets owned housing estate in Limehouse. As part of the Council’s affordable homes programme, it has been identified for regeneration and infill development in order to address the urgent housing need.
Our proposal reinstates an underused basement car park, enhances landscaped areas between the existing housing blocks and provides 32 new homes for social rent over four and nine floors of accommodation.
The scheme has benefited from a successful consultation process with the Tenant Residents’ Association which was held over a series of four events and seven months of design development.
The new building mediates the jump down in scale from the 16 storey Anglia House to the four storey maisonette blocks and expresses horizontal string-lines, floor-to-ceiling windows and brick panels with 1960s inspired alternating in-situ concrete balconies.
"[Rivington Street Studio] do brilliant Resident consultation, actively take on board sensible suggestions and concerns, and adjust proposed plans to create a workable compromise. We know because residents worked with them here."
