The London Borough of Bromley has a pressing need to increase its supply of high-quality affordable homes for social rent. The Council is committed to actively delivering and boosting housing supply within the borough.
This site at York Rise, Orpington, is a vacant plot of land located next to Orpington railway station. The site is identified in the Bromley Local Plan to provide 35 new homes. Working with a specialist modular contractor we have developed a design which is focused around a ‘village green’ and a home zone; providing a mix of housing types arranged in a terrace and small apartment block.
Due to the site’s excellent public transport links, the development will promote a low-car/low-carbon lifestyle with electric vehicle charging and plentiful bike parking, refuse and recycling facilities. The fringe of the site will be left wild to support its biodiversity value.
The homes are brick-faced with pitched roofs, reconstituted stone reveals, aluminium windows and zinc roofs. All homes will benefit from dual aspect orientation and a private balcony or a terrace.
